Mark Bayer served as a Chief of Staff in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives during a 20-year career as a Congressional staff member. He's worked as a management consultant at PwC and co-founded a non-profit organization for disadvantaged youth.

It started with a telegram.
When I was growing up, my mother learned of the hardships suffered by a young family in Moscow. They wanted to leave the Soviet Union, hoping to start a better life in another country.
For 9 years, the Soviet regime tried to crush their dream of a brighter future, refusing to let them emigrate. The husband held a doctorate in zoology. He led a group at an institute specializing in medical parasitology and tropical medicine. The wife also had her doctorate and was a notable entomologist. Their son was kicked out of school, and their phone calls were monitored. Desperate, they went on a hunger strike.
Mark is an international keynote speaker and consultant specializing in strategic communication, legislative strategy, and the art and science of influence-building.
A former Chief of Staff in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives during a 20-year career working in Congress, Mark created the RISE | System™️ (Raising the Influence of Scientists and Engineers), a unique formula of proven rhetorical tools, influence principles, and strategic communication techniques to help scientists, engineers, and executives get funding, advance their careers, and build key professional relationships.
The RISE | System™️ is based on Mark's academic training in rhetoric and persuasion and his real-world experience working in Congress to rapidly distill complex policies, craft strategies to advance high-profile initiatives, and concisely explain them to the stakeholders who could advance or derail their progress - Members of Congress and journalists from leading media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Boston Globe, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, AP, and many others.
Mark has been touted in Politico by his former boss, U.S. Senator Ed Markey, for his "decades of superlative experience" serving as a Congressional staff member. Mark's work has appearedin Science, Forbes, The New Yorker, TeenVOGUE, and ThriveGlobal He has been featured in IEEE-USA's "Lessons on Leadership" column and serves as a guest lecturer in the Science Policy Bootcamp course at Cornell University's Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering.
